Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is an important II-VI compound semiconductor materials, the shape of black crystal particles or powder, melting point of 1092 ℃, relative molecular weight of 240, the crystal structure of sphalerite type, with a direct leap type energy band structure. Its lattice constant is 0.6481nm, forbidden band width is 1.45eV, room temperature electron mobility is 1050 c㎡/(Vs), room temperature hole mobility is 80 c㎡/(Vs). The bonding energy of CdTe chemical bond is as high as 5.7 eV, which is one of the most stable chemosynthesis states of elemental cadmium in nature. Therefore, CdTe is chemically stable at room temperature and insoluble in water and weak acids, making it relatively safe in industrial production and use.

It is worth mentioning that the spectral response of CdTe solar cells matches very well with the spectral distribution of the ground sun, and the actual power generation capacity is strong.
